Job overview
We are seeking to recruit a CAMHS Non-Medical Nurse Prescriber with excellent clinical skills and a strong interest in working with neurodivergent children and their families.
This is a 12-month fixed term post within the Croydon CAMHS ADHD Service.
The post holder will support in leading a highly specialist service for children and young people with ADHD, with co-occurring neurodivergence and/or mental health difficulties. They will also be expected to contribute to specialist assessments and treatment plans. This involves co-ordinating medication review clinics and includes undertaking non-medical prescribing.
Alongside this, they will be expected to use their expertise to offer advice and consultation to other members of the team as well as offering training in assessments and interventions to the wider Croydon CAMHS service, and other professional networks.

Main duties of the job

To provide leadership and management support to the ADHD medication review team to ensure access and flow are prioritised while maintaining own caseload.

To manage a caseload, providing the analysis of complex information to determine the planning and management of assessment and treatment to C&YP with ADHD and co-occurring neurodiverse/mental health difficulties.

To undertake assessments, including ADHD assessments

To provide psychoeducation information sessions/groups.

To provide expertise in this highly specialist clinical area and to offer advice and consultation on clients care to other members of the service. To offer training in assessment and interventions for CYP with ADHD to CAMHS and other professional networks.

To liaise with medical colleagues, partner agencies and adult mental health professionals across a range of settings.

To work autonomously within professional practice guidelines and Trust guidelines.

To contribute to policy and service development, undertake research, service evaluation and audit for own team/service and to contribute to the training of the clinical team and others.

To work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Working for our organisation
Croydon Child and Adolescent Service (CAMHS) provides a multidisciplinary assessment, diagnostic, treatment, advisory and consultative service for children and adolescents with emotional and behavioural difficulties, in particular those with moderate to severe mental health presentations.
The Croydon CAMHS ADHD Service is a small but efficient team providing ADHD medication reviews to children and young people up to the age of 18, and supporting other teams with ADHD medication titration and providing psychoeducation groups.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • First level nursing qualification (registration RMN or RSCN or HV) / with related CAMHS experience
- • Non-medical prescriber with appropriate NMC registration
- • Experience working as an independent non-medical prescriber with a CAMHS service and ability to demonstrate continuing professional development in this area.
- • All applications will require professional registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council
Desirable criteria
- • Additional, recognised therapeutic qualification.
- • MSc level qualification or equivalent with evidence of a comprehensive portfolio of post-registration professional development in child and adolescent mental health
Experience
Essential criteria
- • Experience of CAMHS assessment and ADHD assessments
- • Experience of managing complex and high-risk cases
- • Experience of consultation to, and clinical supervision of, other staff.
Desirable criteria
- • Significant experience working as an independent non-medical prescriber with a CAMHS service and ability to demonstrate continuing professional development in this area.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- • Highly specialist knowledge of childhood disorders including emotional and behavioural disorders, relationship difficulties and attachment disorders and theories of child development.
- • Ability to work independently as an autonomous practitioner with appropriate level of clinical and managerial supervision.
- • Awareness of racial and diversity issues and their impact on service access, through attendance of relevant training.
Desirable criteria
- • Post graduate level knowledge of CAMHS research methodology and complex statistical analysis.
