Senior Clinical Fellow - ST6

Trosolwg o'r swydd

This post is for a whole-time clinical fellowship in Haematology with a focus on Haematology Diagnostics, and one of Consultative Haematology or Coagulation/Thrombosis within the Department of Haematological Medicine at King’s College Hospital Foundation Trust. The post is a non-training post and does not attract a training number /NTN in Haematology. It would however be an ideal opportunity to acquire supervised supplementary training in one of the above areas of interest. Appointees will be encouraged to participate in in teaching and clinical research as per the interests of the post-holder. The appointee must have (or be eligible for) GMC registration and prior haematology experience or higher specialist training in haematology is desirable. A medical degree or diploma from a recognised UK or overseas University or Institution is required.). The appointment will be initially for a period of 1 year with the potential for renewal on an annual basis. In this term, it is anticipated the candidate will spend six months in The King’s Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Centre and six months in either Consultative Haematology or Coagulation/Thrombosis. Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for this post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust.

The post will have a specific focus on Haematology Diagnostics, working closely with biomedical scientists within the Blood Sciences Laboratory. This will be combined with activity in one of HMDS, consultative haematology or thrombosis/anticoagulation.

While this position does not attract a National Training Number, it should be regarded as an opportunity to allow the candidate to develop supervised specialist experience in Haematology Diagnostics, and either Consultative haematology or Coagulation/Thrombosis at one of the leading tertiary centres. The post would be invaluable for candidates who wish to develop a specialised interest in these domains prior to, or following completion of Specialist Training in Haematology (UK) or equivalent qualifications worldwide.
