Job overview
We are looking for a band 5 Staff Nurse full term permanent post, who can use all their Nursing skills and knowledge to work within our outpatient department. This role will include working alongside a variety of different clinical specialities including Elective orthopaedic, Medical & Surgical, Vascular, Dermatology, Pain, Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Diabetes, Physiotherapies, Clinical Psychologists clinics and undertaking vascular dressings and stocking measurements.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse who has a passion for delivering high level care and ensuring an excellent patient outcome & experience. In return we offer support for your continual development.
The post holder would be expected to take charge of the outpatient department in the absence of the nursing sister and to supervise junior registered and unregistered staff.
Informal visits to the department are welcome so you can come and meet the team.
Staff work their 37.5 hours compressed into 4 days Monday to Friday. Currently the Outpatient department hours are 08.00-18.00 Monday to Friday.

- Demonstrates safe medicine administration and management-ordering, storing, administration and disposal

- Running of various specialty Clinics
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Vascular clinic(wound care)
- Effective staff and Patient record keeping
- Deputise in the absence of Department sisters
- Effective stock management
- To support the Charge Nurse/Senior Sister to monitor the safety and quality of care for patients

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To undertake all nursing procedures in accordance with Trust policies and ensure that these procedures and policies are understood and adhered to by all staff, within own management responsibility.
To contribute to the development of evidence-based guidelines/policies relating to speciality.
To ensure high standards of care are given to all patients, monitoring this through spot checks and clinical quality indicators outcome measures.
Contribute to patient and relative feedback by undertaking daily clinical rounds with the aim of providing excellent standards of care
Ensure that all staff act in accordance with Trust policies such as Infection Prevention and Control, Confidentiality, Health & Safety and Equal Opportunities· Take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and other persons who may be affected by their actions or omissions at work.
