Job overview
Royal Free London is recruiting for a Finance BI Reporting Analyst (Income) to support the group Income team.
The role, based at Enfield Civic Centre (2 days per week, and 3 days working from home), would suit an ambitious and dynamic candidate looking to work in a large acute trust that is continually evolving and growing.
The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive income reporting and business intelligence service to the Trust, supporting the accurate and timely reporting of clinical activity and income.
The post-holder will lead the production of monthly income reports, support external commissioner reporting requirements, and ensure activity and income data is complete, accurate and clearly understood. A key focus of the role will be the development of automated reporting solutions and Power BI dashboards, replacing legacy Excel and QlikView processes with modern, efficient and intuitive reporting tools.
Working closely with Income, Contracts, Informatics, Data Quality, Finance Managers, clinical teams and operational managers, the post-holder will analyse income trends, investigate variances from plan, support commissioner reconciliations and provide expert advice on NHS income reporting, SLAM, National Tariff and commissioning requirements.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will:
Lead the production of the Trust’s monthly income reports and external monitoring returns in line with agreed reporting timetables.
Produce, process and validate activity and income data through SLAM, ensuring submissions to commissioners and external bodies are complete, accurate and provided in the required format.
Develop and maintain automated reporting processes, using tools such as SQL, Excel macros and Power BI to improve efficiency, accuracy and consistency across the Income team.
Lead the departmental programme to convert legacy Excel and QlikView reports into Power BI dashboards and reporting apps.
Scope, design, build and maintain Power BI reports that provide clear, intuitive and actionable insight into income, activity, performance and key trends.
Analyse monthly income variances from plan, trends in activity and income, and differences between flex and final data, identifying anomalies and working with Informatics, Data Quality and finance colleagues to resolve issues.
Provide advice and guidance to clinical teams, operational managers and finance colleagues on income reporting, National Tariff requirements, commissioning arrangements and the drivers of income performance.
