Job overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Anaesthetic Practitioner / Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join our dedicated perioperative team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing  high-quality, patient-centred care throughout the anaesthetic, surgical, and post-operative recovery phases.

This is a dynamic role that requires a proactive and compassionate professional who is committed to patient safety and teamwork. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team, including anaesthetists, surgeons, and nurses, to ensure the highest standards of care are delivered.

Main duties of the job

Prepare the anaesthetic room and all necessary equipment and drugs for a wide range of surgical procedures.

Perform pre-operative checks and assessments, ensuring patient identity, consent, and safety protocols are followed.Provide skilled assistance to the anaesthetist during the administration of anaesthesia, including induction and airway management.

Continuously monitor the patient's physiological parameters and react promptly to any changes in their condition.

Registered with the [HCPC for ODPs or NMC for Nurses] with a qualification in Anaesthetic Practice.Demonstrable experience working in a perioperative environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

The ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.  Excellent observational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
