NHS AfC: Band 5

Our trust has over 17,000 staff serving 2 million patients every year. It comprises Barnet Hospital, Chase Farm Hospital, the Royal Free Hospital, North Middlesex University Hospital and more than 30 services in the community.  This larger scale organisation provides an unprecedented opportunity for us to continue our pioneering work, particularly in finding ways to deliver even better care to our patients.

Our mission is to deliver world class care and expertise in our clinical services, underpinned by world class teaching and research and we will continue to measure our progress against our five governing objectives: excellent outcomes, excellent patient and staff experience, excellent value for taxpayers’ money, being safe and meeting our external duties, and building a strong organisation.

Job overview

Are you looking to develop your career in MSK outpatient services working with a wide range of  MSK pathologies, supported professionally by an established team of experienced clinicians?

Come and join our large MSK outpatients team based at Chase Farm Hospital.

We provide a supportive working environment with opportunities to develop clinical and managerial skills, through CPD, staff supervision, mentoring and in-service training. This is time of change and challenge for MSK services in the NHS we are looking for dynamic individuals to help us maximise all opportunities.  Are you passionate about making a difference to patients? We pride ourselves on integrated working, not only within the wider therapy team  but also with other health professionals in secondary and primary care, local authority and voluntary sectors.

Main duties of the job

As part of the Physiotherapy Service providing care to a multi-cultural and diverse population, to deliver a high standard physiotherapy service to Outpatients Physiotherapy. To work alongside more senior staff or to always have access to senior support during normal working hours.

To perform physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations of physical and psychological conditions, to provide a clinical diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.

To hold responsibility for own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or particular patient type, working under supervision.  Supervision takes the form of regular formal training and clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and case review.  Access to advice and support from a more senior physiotherapist is available when required; clinical work is routinely evaluated.

To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.

Working for our organisation

North Mid is part of North Central London integrated care system – consisting of the NHS and Local authority organisations in Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. As with other ICS’s, we are working increasingly closely with partners and indeed many of our financial and performance objectives are measured at this system level. Whilst all organisations remain as standalone, statutory bodies we have an ICS infrastructure for making shared decisions and agreeing shared approaches.

We are proud of our staff and want to ensure their training allows them to provide excellent clinical care. We are also a training unit for medical students from UCL and St George’s University Grenada, and for nursing and midwifery students from Middlesex and City Universities.
