Job overview

The SWLEOC Scheduling Team coordinates approximately 450+ surgeries per month, fully utilising six theatres per day, six days a week. The scheduling team have to manage to 55 consultants schedules across the partnership complete nearly 6000 surgeries per year. The SWLEOC Administrative Support Team schedules around 600 virtual nurse appointments and 600 face-to-face Physical assessments each month.

The 2 successful candidate will be adaptable, dependable, resilient, organised, and possess strong communication skills. Candidates will be required to liaise with schedulers, nursing teams, and senior management while effectively prioritising workloads.

They will also develop their knowledge of medical terminology and gain a deeper understanding of surgical procedures and perioperative care.

Main duties of the job

Candidates main duties 

  • Communicate with patients to set up a digital pre-assessment accounts
  • Schedule patients virtual nurse and physical face to face appointments .
  • Report to management any findings or issues 
  • Updating spreadsheets and localised computer systems

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Computer literate with experience using Microsoft packages i.e Word, Excel or other IT packages
  • Knowledge of health and safety
  • Basic knowledge of confidentiality and data protection
  • Understand the principles of equality and diversity
Desirable criteria
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of the RTT pathway

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Good general education with GCSE or equivalent in English
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ or working towards a NVQ
  • A-Level in English

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in administration environment
  • Experience working in a customer service setting
  • Experience in high pressure role
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in hospital or care setting
  • Experience using hospital IT packages i.e ICLIP or Bluespier
