Job overview

We are looking for a housekeeper to join our experienced team in delivering high quality patient centred care.

Our Day Surgery Unit has 5 operating theatres and Stepdown our admission and discharge area for patients attending for day case surgery. 

As the housekeeper on the Day Surgery Unit you will play an important role in developing environmental standards of care for patients. It is important for the ward to be clean, safe and attractive for patients and staff. You should demonstrate excellent communication and team working skills and be able to effectively prioritise your workload in a busy clinical environment.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensure that all areas within the ward environment reach a high standard of cleanliness, in conjunction with the ward domestic and ensure that the 
    environment is tidy. 
  • Maintain adequate linen stock levels and return linen not fit for purpose.
  • To monitor the maintenance of medical equipment daily.
  •  Liaise with the Theatre Coordinator/Nurse in charge regarding the department issues for the day, and feedback progress daily.
  • Support good infection control practices, liaise with the domestic staff allocated to the department.

Education & Qualification

Essential criteria
  • GCSE A-C or equivalent including Math’s and English or Level 2 functional skills in Math’s and English.
  • Willing to undertake further training.

Experience
