Job overview
The role will cover general Cardiology, coronary intervention, and development in Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) services. Providing cover for the PPCI service, Cardiology Consultant of the week and the PH service. The role will also support the expanded National PH service based at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Hospital.
On call commitments with PPCI and PH
Main duties of the job
The role has responsibilities in general Cardiology (including Cardiology Consultant of the week), coronary intervention (including the PPCI service) and the National Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) service (including PH on call and pulmonary intervention).
It is expected that the applicant is trained in general cardiology with an interest in coronary intervention and expertise in pulmonary hypertension. It is highly desirable that the applicant also has significant experience in pulmonary arterial intervention.
The primary objectives of the department that this post is intended to support are:
1. To provide excellence in patient experience and safety
2. To support the on-call cardiology rota and PPCI on call cardiology rota
3. Provide general cardiac care for in and outpatients
4. To support the on-call PH rota
5. To support the National Pulmonary Hypertension service
6. To support the Royal Free Hospital in remaining a strong organisation

Education & Professional Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full registration with GMC Specialist Register with complete CCT / CESR registration
- MRCP (UK) or equivalent
- Sub-specialty expertise in coronary intervention
Desirable criteria
- Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)
- Experience of working in UK healthcare
- Sub-specialty experience in pulmonary arterial intervention
Skills and aptitudes plus Experience
Essential criteria
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Motivated, flexible and enthusiastic
- Sub-specialty experience in pulmonary hypertension.
- Good interpersonal skills
- Caring attitude to patients
Desirable criteria
- Active participation in research
- Experience in service transformation & clinical leadership
