Job overview
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust Hospital are inviting applicants to apply for this exciting Geriatric, Acute and General Medicine post with a 50/50 split full time role in the Department of Health Services for Elderly People (HSEP) at the Hampstead site.
The Post will comprise of 50% Geriatric Medicine and 50% Acute and General Medicine.
Applicants will be expected to have suitable experience in Geriatric Medicine and General Internal Medicine (GIM).
Main duties of the job
This role will be predominantly focused on delivering a consultant-led liaison service to frail and complex patients on the HSEP (Health Services for Elderly People) ward and developing our frailty liaison service. Clinical supervision and teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level will also be an important aspect of this role. The appointee will also work closely and in partnership with our Acute Medicine colleagues as well as the wider multidisciplinary team.
The successful applicant will contribute to the Acute Medicine duty rota working primarily on our new 54-bedded Acute Medicine, Unit as well as covering the Acute Medicine Take shifts, Same Day Emergency Clinic (SDEC) and the Adult Assessment Unit (AAU). Together with other consultants in Acute Medicine the successful applicant will provide care for patients admitted via the acute unscheduled admissions system, which principally receives referrals from the Emergency Department (ED) and primary care. Out of hours and weekend cover is currently provided on a 1:12 basis for long days and approximately 1:12 for short days.
