Job overview
To provide a professional leadership and management role in order to inspire the professional
development of nursing within infection prevention and control
To support Matrons, specialist clinical staff and ward nurses in the delivery of a high quality patient
focused care which contributes to the patients overall experience.
To deputise as required for the Head of IPC Nursing.
To develop procedures, guidelines and protocols to support the development of a safe and efficient
service.
To monitor the level of service provided by the support services through regular audit and take
remedial action as necessary.
To supervise the professional development and appraisal of staff through their line management
structure.
Main duties of the job
-
Provide a high standard of physiotherapy service to musculoskeletal in and out-patient paediatric patients at the Royal Free Hospital Hampstead.

Provide specialist advice regarding the musculoskeletal physiotherapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients referred to the service.

Act as a source of expertise on the management of musculoskeletal conditions and to provide an advisory service to patients, other physiotherapists, other healthcare professionals and the primary healthcare team including GPs.

Be responsible for the safe and correct use of physiotherapy equipment within the department.

Ensure staff are competent to use physiotherapy equipment within the department.

Supervise more junior and student physiotherapists as needed

To maintain associated records as an autonomous practitioner.

Responsible for organising groups

Teaching and clinical supervision of student physiotherapists

Contribute to in service training for the wider paediatric team

To support the community and schools team and complex needs service as and when needed.

- Member of CSP
- Member Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists
- Evidence of CPD including attendance at appropriate postgraduate, specialist short courses relevant to paediatric PT
- Post-graduate paediatric training in paediatric MSK
- Post-graduate paediatric training in respiratory physiotherapy
Desirable criteria
- HPC Registration

- Experience of a wide range of assessment and treatment tools used in PT for children in Paediatric MSK and respiratory physiotherapy
- Demonstrates using evidence-based practice in paediatric physiotherapy
- Knowledge of clinical governance and its implications for service, including experience of quality issues and audit
- Knowledge of child safeguarding procedures
Desirable criteria
- Advanced knowledge of Paediatric MSK
- Advanced knowledge of paediatric respiratory physiotherapy
- Previous experience of paediatric physiotherapy service development
- Experience in developing and providing training to others, both within paediatric physiotherapy and MDT
- Experience of leading in audit/research
- Experience in paediatric physio in a variety of settings including schools, community and hospital
