Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic occupational therapist to lead our inpatient therapy AHP team here at Blossom Court.

We have a modern therapies department with good and well resourced spaces for providing therapy provision for the three acute wards on site.

The team is a motivated and experienced group of allied health professions, sports tech and support staff.

The role offers the opportunities for clinical work, with a small caseload of complex and delayed discharge cases, alongside oversight and running of the team and department.

 

Main duties of the job

     To provide clinical and managerial oversight of the Haringey Acute Therapies AHP Team to deliver highly specialised interventions for the acute wards at Blossom Court, St Anne’s Hospital. 

       The postholder will be required to participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the Haringey Acute Therapies AHP Team input to ensure the provision of effective services to the Blossom Court wards.

In order to meet the needs of the Trust you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey or Islington. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 

       The postholder will hold and oversee a small specialist Occupational Therapy caseload and provide advice to other disciplines as required.

       The postholder will manage and supervise members of the AHP team.

       To work closely and in alignment with AHP teams and colleagues across the acute care-group.

       To contribute to service development in collaboration with Lead AHPs for acute care.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current registration with HCPC.
  • Documented evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Leadership Training

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Specialist application of current best practice in OT and mental health.
  • Understanding and application of occupational therapy models, outcome measures and evaluation processes
  • Group work skills with complex patients
  • Ability to lead and co-ordinate the work of a team.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of supervising and managing staff
  • Experience of implementing new ideas and practice
  • Post registration experience of acute mental health in a variety of settings
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with and managing other Allied Health Professionals within a team

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
