Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and self-motivated band 7 pharmacist to join our team at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. 
The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You should have hospital pharmacy experience. Previous experience is not required; however, a solid background in clinical pharmacy and experience in managing staff would be desirable.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • To work in partnership with the Lead Pharmacist Clinical Services and Associate Chief Pharmacist, Clinical Quality, Networked Sites in the maintenance and development of Clinical Pharmacy Services provided to patients, wards and departments throughout the satellite.
  • Cross site rotations to other satellite dispensaries (North and South Divisions) as well as the main City Road site as needed.
  • Supporting the Lead Pharmacist Clinical Services and Associate Chief Pharmacist, Clinical Quality, Networked Sites in leading on medicines management and optimisation across the North Division.
  • Supporting the Lead Pharmacist Clinical Services and Associate Chief Pharmacist, Clinical Quality, Networked Sites in managing Clinical and Pharmacy Technical services across the Moorfields North Division, co-ordinating operational deployment of staff.
  • Local leadership and supporting the Lead Pharmacist Clinical Services and Associate Chief Pharmacist, Clinical Quality, Networked Sites in managing the satellite pharmacy rapid discharge support service across the North Division
  • Be responsible for and initiate liaison with senior staff, Sisters/Charge Nurses and consultants both internally and externally concerning medicine management issues.

Education / Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Taught Masters Degree in Pharmacy (4 years) or equivalent
  • 1 year pre-registration training
  • Mandatory CPD
  • Post Graduate Pharmacy Certificate or equivalent experience
  • Member of The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
Desirable criteria
  • Post Graduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma/MSc
  • ECDL or equivalent
  • MRPharmS

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 3+ years post-registration experience (minimum 2+ year hospital experience)
  • Previous experience of providing a specialised clinical pharmacy services
  • Good understanding of admission & discharge processes in hospital
  • Experience of Policy/Procedure/ Guideline development
  • Previous experience in supervising and managing pharmacy staff
  • Previous experience of mentoring & training
  • Clinical Audit experience
  • Good understanding of Risk Management

  • Experience of working with surgical patients
