We seek a motivated Clinical Service Manager to lead and develop our clinical teams, ensuring exceptional service delivery and continuous improvement.

 As Clinical Service Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day management of clinical services, driving operational efficiency, clinical governance, and patient-centred care. You will be a key leader in fostering a positive, collaborative environment that supports staff development and innovation.

You will work closely with the Clinical Leads, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and senior colleagues across the Trust to deliver national and local performance standards, improve patient pathways, and support service transformation.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Clinical Service Manager involves providing clinical leadership and operational management of the clinicians in the clinical single point of access (SPA) and the adult specialist nursing services that includes Tissue Viability Service, Bladder and Bowel Health Service, IV Service, and the Hounslow Night Nursing Service. The following are the duties and responsibilities the post needs to deliver:

 

To provide effective line management, leadership and accountability for the delivery of safe effective high-quality care to patients and their families to deliver improved outcomes in line with the commissioner’s service specifications, quality standards, activity targets and clinical outcomes. To lead them through a period of change to optimise the roles of each team and eventual new models.

 

To provide vision and direction to the service/teams having considered the relevance of local, sector and national initiatives to modernise the NHS and how to implement service improvements and innovations based on the interpretation of related guidance.

 

To lead the planning and implementation of service improvements and new ways of working that reflect the current, projected and changing needs of the local community, commissioners and new technologies. Formulate and adjust plans as new opportunities and evidence arise.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse – current NMC registration or other healthcare profession with HCPC registration
  • Post-registered qualification in community nursing (including district nursing, practice nursing or nurse practitioner) or equivalent qualification or experience as a Band 7 for at least 4 years.
  • Evidence of ongoing and recent postregistration training and education – at degree and preferably master’s level
  • Undertaken training in team/service/staff management
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant master’s qualification or working towards completing a master’s degree
  • Qualification in teaching or practice-based learning (Assessor/supervisory)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Extensive post registration clinical experience at a senior level
  • Experience of undertaking complex assessments and providing care to people with complex needs.
  • Community nursing experience
  • Resource and Personnel Management Experience
  • Experience in managing, auditing and evaluating clinical nursing services
  • Knowledge / understanding of confidentiality issues and data protection.
  • Experience of managing a budget.
  • Proven ability to prioritise and manage own workload with minimal supervision
  • Experience of initiating and implementing changes to services
  • Experience of providing Clinical Supervision
  • Experience of working collaboratively with a variety of agencies and professionals and across organizational boundaries
