Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse to join our MINT Team on a 6-month secondment. The team provides community mental health support to adults across the London Borough of Hounslow, supporting service users with mental health difficulties and associated physical health needs.
The role involves managing a diverse caseload, including people with long-term and enduring mental health conditions, acute presentations and new referrals requiring assessment and intervention.
You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team comprising mental health nurses, occupational therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, employment specialists and support workers. The team has strong links with local statutory and non-statutory services.
The post is 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.
We are seeking a registered mental health professional with:
- Significant post-registration experience working with adults experiencing mental health difficulties.
- At least six months’ community experience working with adults.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of relevant mental health legislation and best practice.
- Experience in mental health assessment, risk assessment, safety planning and medication administration
A car owner/driver is desirable but not essential. We are committed to finding the right candidate to provide high-quality, person-centred care.

Essential criteria
- Registered on the NMC register, parts RN3, RNMH and RN4
- Evidence of accredited courses in mental health practice or related career pathway and willing to progress to degree level (III).
- Mentorship Qualification.
- Mandatory Training up-to-date.
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Assessors Qualification (A1)
- Degree in Health Care related subject.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience in the application of the competencies required in Band 5 Nursing KSF Full Outline.
- Experience in the application of processes related to Band 5 KSF Full Outline.
- A sound working knowledge and application of the NMC Code of Practice
Knowledge & Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate steady progression through Band 5 Nursing to Full KSF Post Outline
- Achieved Full KSF Post Outline for Band 5 core and specific dimensions
