Qualifications needed:

·       Full GMC Registration with a license to practice

·       Section 12 certification, or a commitment to work towards this.

·       Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders in adults

·       At least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time basis) of which at least 2 years will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee or shall have equivalent experience and competencies

Main duties of the job

This post is for a Specialty Doctor in the Adolescent Tier 4 CAMHS service based at Brookside Unit, 107a Barley Lane, Goodmayes, Ilford. IG3 8XQ.

There are two well-established Speciality Doctor posts available because the previous Specialty Doctors are leaving to join ST4-6 training in CAMHS Psychiatry. The service at Brookside includes clinical input into the inpatient unit and the Young People Home Treatment Team, for children and young people aged 12-18 years old. 

This is a full-time post with 10 Programmed Activities (PAs) with 8 Direct Clinical Contact activities (DCC) and 2 Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs). Applications for part-time/job share will be considered.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 The successful candidates will work as part of multidisciplinary teams in both inpatients and the Young People Home Treatment Team, providing medical support to the team, and direct input on clinical cases. The Consultants and Specialty Doctors will be expected to provide guidance and supervision to the team, work directly with young people and their families and liaise as appropriate with community CAMHS consultants and specialty doctors.  As one of two Specialty Doctors, you will work alongside two full time Consultants, a full time Trust Grade Doctor and the Resident Trainee doctors (one Specialty Registrar, one Core Trainee, one Foundation Doctor year 1) in the team.
