Job overview
B6 to B7 Progression Rotational Pharmacist or B7 Rotational Pharmacist
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our expanding pharmacy team, which includes innovative roles such as Independent Prescribers and Consultant Pharmacists, to provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services across community health and mental health specialities.
We welcome applications from newly qualified, band 6 or equivalent pharmacists. Hospital and/or mental health experience is desirable however not essential, as we will provide in-house training to upskill in areas identified for development. Applicants may be employed directly at a Band 7 level if they demonstrate the necessary skills and experience.
The role is largely patient-facing and focussed on developing robust clinical skills to manage co-morbid presentations via our rotational programme.
The base for this role will be Goodmayes Hospital, Barley Lane, Ilford, however as a rotational post there may be a requirement for periodic travel to other sites around NELFT.
Main duties of the job
We have developed a bespoke training package to aid development and you will be supported by a clinical supervisor during the provision of a clinical pharmacy service including activities such as attending wards rounds, patient counselling and responding to clinical queries across;
- Community Health Services including inpatient frailty wards, hospital discharge services and supporting specialist community services such as stroke rehabilitation, diabetes, respiratory and palliative care
- Adult and Older Adult Mental Health Services including inpatient wards, Psychiatric Liaison Services, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, Forensic Services, Learning Disabilities, Perinatal Mental Health, Home Treatment Teams and Community Mental Health Teams
- Child and Adolescent mental Health Services (CAMHS) in both inpatient and community settings
You should be proactive in developing and using your clinical skills and knowledge to improve care through the delivery of efficient medicines optimisation. There will be opportunities for involvement in teaching, quality improvement and postgraduate study. Please refer to the job description for further details of the Band 6 to 7 Progression Pathway.
