Do you have contemporary experience in an acute clinical setting and an interest in developing a career in critical care? We are looking for someone who is motivated, enthusiastic and possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team in an innovative Critical Care setting. You will be given a structured orientation and development plan to meet your individual needs to develop as an intensive care team leader.
The West Middlesex Hospital Intensive care Unit comprises of a combination of level two and level three intensive care beds. We cater for a broad range of critically ill patients and offer a friendly and supportive working environment where education and staff development is seen as a priority.

Main duties of the job
- The Staff Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of high quality patient care, whilst working in close co-operation and collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.
- Provide high quality clinical care to patients, in line with the Trust values and in accordance with professional regulations. Accept delegated responsibility for specific activities/areas from the senior nurse in charge
- Work in line with Trust policies, objectives, protocols and local guidelines, whilst also being aware of the importance of their role in supporting members of the team, and always adhering to the Trust values, and in accordance with NMC regulations.
- Work autonomously and with others to always deliver high standards of care to patients and their careers, autonomously and as part of a team.
- Communicate in line with Trust values, to patients, careers and staff at all times.
- Take every opportunity to continue to develop, practice and expand their own general and specialist nursing skills.
- Maintain high standards of professional and ethical responsibility, and accountability and be aware of the medico-legal aspects of nursing, in line with professional, regulating and local guidance.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant post reg experience in a hospital environment
- Proven clinical experience in relevant area
- Experience with acutely ill patients
- Ability to utilise pre-registration experience to demonstrate an understanding of the relevant settings
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of teaching and assessing
- General management skills
Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse
- Degree qualification or its equivalent
- Post qualification in relevant speciality
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of teaching/mentorship qualification
- Evidence of recent and on-going professional development
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Proven clinical knowledge linked to area of specialty, and excellence in care delivery
- Proven knowledge of safety issues through clinical governance and risk management
- Proven leadership and deputising skills in clinical area
- Excellent communication skills with patients, relatives, staff and external contacts, including in challenging situations, demonstrating respect and kindness
- Knowledge of current challenging and issues in nursing
- Commitment to teaching and learning for self and others
