Job overview

Occupational Therapy at Kingston Hospital is a therapeutic discipline that aims to provide individualised, goal-oriented interventions that promote health and welling-being through participation in chosen occupations

A fantastic opportunity has arisen within Kingston Hospital Foundation Trust, for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 5 Occupational Therapist to join our team. The successful candidate will become part of our rotational program, which covers specialty areas of acute stroke, specialist medicine, care of the elderly, orthopaedics and hand therapy surgery and community.

Within a nurturing learning environment you will receive regular supervision, participate in a weekly teaching program, preceptorship for newly qualified staff and a yearly performance appraisal to support your professional development.

There will be an expectation to work one weekend day in every 6 weeks. 

Main duties of the job

You will work collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including our community partners, to provide a holistic, patient-centered occupational therapy service that empowers patient’s to achieve their goals.

You will provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention to a wide variety of patients in line with current evidence-based practice, national and local policies, and within the scope of professional standards of practice.

There is also an opportunity to contribute to the development and evaluation of the occupational therapy service which is continually evolving in line with local and national proposals, such as the NHS Five Year Forward Plan.

  • HCPC Registration

Experience

  • Application of the OT process
  • Use of functional assessment and activity analysis
  • Documented evidence of continuous professional development
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary and/or occupational therapy team
  • Experience of working with people in a health or social services environment
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in any of the following areas : hand therapy, community • Elderly Care • General Medicine • Orthopaedics • Stroke
