Job overview
PART TIME - 22.5 HOURS PER WEEK
We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacist to join our team, working alongside the Microbiology Consultants. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the work currently undertaken with respect to antimicrobial stewardship within the Trust and ensure that antimicrobials are also used safely and effectively within our established Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) service.
This post would suit a Pharmacist with excellent clinical knowledge, good communication skills and experience in antimicrobials.
To support 7 day working you will be expected to participate in the on-call, weekend, Bank Holiday and late duty rotas.

Main duties of the job
Regular attendance at antimicrobial ward rounds with the microbiology consultants.
Providing specialist clinical input into the Trust OPAT service and contribute to weekly MDT meetings.
Working towards the Trust’s antimicrobial stewardship strategy.
In conjunction with the rest of the OPAT team, ensuring that patients on OPAT receive appropriate monitoring and follow-up, auditing outcomes.
Undertake audits for antimicrobials and antifungals including CQUINs in conjunction with the microbiology consultants.
Training multi-disciplinary team members in the appropriate use of antimicrobials.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To ensure appropriate and effective use of antimicrobials with the Trust and reduce antimicrobial resistance. This will be achieved through the use of effective, evidence based and economic antimicrobials prescribing policies.
The role will include daily attendance at ward rounds with the microbiology consultants and the outcomes of these ward rounds will be audited.
To ensure that antimicrobials are used safely and effectively within the Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) service.
To undertake the CQUIN audits for antimicrobials and antifungals in conjunction with the microbiology consultants.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Post Graduate Clinical Diploma
- Post Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice
- Registration with the GPhC as a Pharmacist
- Taught Masters Degree in Pharmacy
Experience & Skills
Essential criteria
- Comprehensive post-registration training and experience in hospital pharmacy - this must include a solid grounding in all aspects of acute hospital pharmacy practice (medicines information, ward services and dispensing)
- Excellent knowledge and practice of clinical pharmacy in the acute care setting
- Significant previous antimicrobials experience
- Excellent communication skills on both a written and verbal basis
- Range of hospital pharmacy services
Desirable criteria
- Hospital electronic prescribing and administration systems, eg Cerner Millennium

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
