Job overview
We are recruiting a sterilization support managers for providing the leadership on the delivery of sterilization across the trust site and working with the sterilization contracts and performance team .
Leading asset and inventory management between Theatres, Sterile Services, and supply/purchase teams of reusable surgical instruments.
Actively participating in the operational process working without supervision and supervise other staff in the overall production process, ensuring quality standards are attained and procedures are adhered to.
Act as a gateway for the loan sets/instruments process to ensure that procurement of loan sets/instruments is requested, Ensure the leakage of surgical instruments between sets is minimized by effective process mapping, using recommended audit procedures, pre- and post-operative checks. Practice and ensure that the inventory of sets and equipment is accurately reflected in the track and trace system.
Reporting the Sterilisation Lead on regular basis and working closely with the site Equipment Managers, Theatre Managers, and site theatre teams and with the Sterile Services Provider - Steris Management.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will support and deputise for the Sterilisation Lead on the operational and strategic management of sterile services with the trust’s external sterilisation service. This role will be providing the leadership on the delivery of sterilisation across the trust site in conjunction with the Sterilisation Lead. This role will have requirements to be cross based between Kingston hospital and STERIS in Chessington South.

SKILLS/ABILITIES
Essential criteria
- Excellent written and oral communication skills at all levels, internally and external.
- Computer literate including presentation of data, word processing, electronic delivery of presentations and report writing. Proficient in the use of Microsoft packages, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work using own initiative but also to know when to seek assistance and guidance
Desirable criteria
- Able to prioritise own workload and that of others
- Ability to manage teams through inspiring and creating confidence.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Diploma or equivalent level of knowledge and experience through decontamination training/ experience or equivalent NHS experience
Desirable criteria
- Qualification in decontamination related subject
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Substantial sterile services experience, with evidence of supervisory or management of staff in sterile services or theatre environment
- Demonstrable experience and proven knowledge of the characteristics of surgical instruments of the necessary decontamination processes
- Experience of compliance with quality management systems for all aspects of decontamination process.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working within a Sterile Services Department or Theatre
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
Essential criteria
- Understand the concept and management of urgent/ priority medical devices.
- Ability to undertake, investigate and report on non-conformances and understand when limit of capability has been reached.
Desirable criteria
- Understanding 13485, MDR /MHRA, HTM
- Knowledge of surgical instrumentation and decontamination
