Job overview
The Network Manager is responsible for the design, operation and optimisation of the organisation’s LAN, WAN and wireless network services, ensuring secure, reliable and high‑availability connectivity across clinical and corporate environments. The role requires expert knowledge of enterprise networking, security technologies, TCP/IP, firewalls and large‑scale network infrastructure, as well as the ability to lead complex technical projects and manage specialist engineers. The postholder also oversees network performance, risk management and supplier engagement, ensuring safe and compliant delivery of critical network services.

- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience of working at a senior level in specialist area
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification or equivalent experience

- Significant demonstrable experience of delivering and supporting IT networks in a Cisco / Checkpoint operating environment (or similar technology).
- Experienced in motivating, developing, and managing technical professionals to deliver high‑quality, innovation‑led results.
- Experience of producing reports and documentation,service redesign and of overseeing improvement plans, negotiating and managing 3rd party contracts
- Expert at developing procedures to cover areas such as equipment installation and system security and configuration and change management systems and procedures
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to manage multiple complex workstreams / projects, providing oversight of technical resources and requirements realisation
- Expert analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem solving. Able to gather and interpret complex data to inform analytical and problem-solving tasks
- Excellent relationship management skills, experience of liaison with senior management and the ability to manage expectations, balancing supply with demand
