Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month fixed term contract senior clinical fellow in ENT Head and Neck.
The department provides one-stop diagnostic clinics in collaboration with Radiology, Cellular Pathology and Endocrinology. Over 100 thyroid and parathyroid operations are performed annually supported by the availability of intraoperative rapid parathyroid hormone testing and intraoperative nerve testing. The ENT clinic at Kingston Hospital is one of very few in the country equipped with the latest ultrasound machines, and the successful applicant will have the ability to learn and perform head and neck ultrasound as part of an enhanced clinical assessment or diagnostic intervention. Cone Beam CT scanning is also available onsite.
Main duties of the job
The post holder would be expected to:
• Provide advice and where appropriate treatment
• Help develop the service in accordance with Trust policy
• Teach train and supervise postgraduates trainees as appropriate
• Demonstrate professional excellence and efficient delivery of care in accordance with
clinical case load associated with the post.
• Attend new and review patients and treatment clinics for the non surgical and surgical
(re)treatment of Tier 3 complex endodontic cases.
• Assist colleagues in the education of general dental practitioners and provision of advice.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Shall have full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council
- MRCS or equivalent qualification
- FRCS (ORL-HNS)
Desirable criteria
- Higher additional qualification
- Presentations / publications
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria
- Applicants must be senior trainees (either Post CCT or in the final year of training)
- Able to deal with general Head and Neck and ENT emergencies
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of participation in research and continued professional development
- Logbook indicating validated experience of appropriate range and number of clinical procedures
Management Skills
Essential criteria
- Able to communicate at a strategic and operational level
Desirable criteria
- Attended management training course
- Knowledge of finance/ budgets
Experience in Training, Audit and Research
Essential criteria
- Demonstrate leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team.
