Haringey Personality Disorder Pathway - Senior Clinician, Band 7 (OT, Social worker, psychologist, psychotherapist RMN) 

We currently have a vacancy for a senior clinician to join our well established and supportive team. 

The  successful applicant will have experience working with patients who have a diagnosis of Personality Disorder. They will have undertaken MBT and/or SCM  training.

Holding a caseload of patients within the Pathway who are part of the MBT or SCM programme, the successful applicant will provide group MBT therapy and some individual MBT.  They will also  deliver Structured Clinical Management in a group or individually, as well as completing assessments and providing supervision to junior staff.  There will be opportunities to develop both clinical and managerial roles within the post.   The post holder will also undertake specialist personality disorder assessments jointly and independently.  

Within the PD pathway there is an emphasis on team based, multi-disciplinary decision making.  There is  close liaison with other community mental health teams and acute services.  Supervision is provided individually and in groups. This lends itself to a supportive environment where risk management is shared in the process of treatment planning and delivery.

 

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist Mentalisation Based Treatment (MBT) and SCM to a caseload of  individuals,  and facilitate groups in the Personality Disorder Pathway

Liaise with other professionals to provide continuity of care across acute care,  Primary care teams, Core mental health teams,  and the PD Pathway.

Formulate and implement  treatment plans and provide Structured Clinical Management / Mentalisation-based therapy.

Provide supervision to junior members of the team

Participate in the day to day emotional work of the MDT, and overall service development and maintenance.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • RMN/Occupational Therapy/Social work/Clinical or Counselling Psychology Doctorate.
  • MBT in a treatment setting.
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching/Mentorship Qualification.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrable experience at Band 6 or equivalent.
  • Evidence of ability to effectively manage a team.

PERSONAL QUALITIES

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work within multidisciplinary team autonomously.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Essential criteria
  • The post holder must have the ability to understand and implement the Equal Opportunities Policy at a level appropriate to the job.
