Job overview

We are looking for dynamic, enthusiastic midwife to join our team as a Ward Manager for Antenatal Clinic, Barts Health, Newham University Hospital. 

Barts Health NHS Trust has a world-wide reputation for innovation in the care of mothers to be, each birth is very special to us, and we strive to make every birth as normal as possible, no matter what the complications. Our local community is home to families from a diverse mix of ethnicity, social and health needs.  We have a Level 3 Neonatal Unit situated at the Royal London Site, a Level 2 Neonatal Unit situated at the Newham Site, and we have excellent facilities in Fetal Medicine. 

Main duties of the job

¨      You will have minimum 2 years post registration experience as a Band 6 midwife.

¨      You will have sound clinical knowledge with the organisational and leadership skills necessary to manage change and manage the team.

¨      You will ensure quality and safe care for women and their family, support the Matron in leading in achieving good working environment for staff and promote innovation within women services.

¨      You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

¨      Be educated to degree level and or thinking of completing a MSc.

¨      Must have a passion for improving Antenatal care pathways for our women at Newham.

¨      Robust understanding of safeguarding themes and pathways

¨ Collaborative working with the MDT: Obstetrics, Administrative, Sonography and external stakeholders

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Midwife Band 6
  • Teaching in Clinical Practice or equivalent
  • Preceptorship/mentorship training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 2 years post registration experience as a Band 6 midwife
  • Experience in all hospital areas
  • Experience in Community (if community post)
  • Experience as preceptor
  • Experience as mentor Managerial experience (Ward/dept)

Knowledge
