A wonderful opportunity has arisen for an experienced Midwife to come and join our established Integrated Community Midwifery Team at The Royal London Hospital.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and motivated individual who provides community midwifery care for women and their families, living in all areas of Tower Hamlets. You will be part of a supportive and experienced team providing antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. This consists of community based antenatal and postnatal clinics, home visits and support to the low-risk birth centre. Working as an integrated community midwife means you can still enjoy intrapartum aspects of care and are pleased to offer as part of this role integrated shifts monthly, on the Lotus Birth Centre. These are allocated shifts as part of your contracted hours. In addition, there are on call duties to support the home birth team providing home birth.

Main duties of the job

To provide high quality, evidence based holistic midwifery care to women resident in Tower Hamlets. To provide care to women from antenatal, intrapartum and beyond.  The midwife will be required to work as part of a team, providing community based care and support to the Low Risk Birth Centre and participate in the on-call rota to facilitate the women’s desired place of birth.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Band Midwife with UK professional Registration who has completed their preceptorship
Desirable criteria
  • Practice Supervisor/ Assessor
  • Post registration qualifications or MSc

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Has worked in a variety of settings using all midwifery skills
  • Ability to participate in health promotion activities to include antenatal classes/clinics
  • Can show a non-judgemental approach to patient care
  • Able to use both Adult and Neonatal resuscitation skills

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Can demonstrate a knowledge of current and emerging health care issues
  • Ability to work with others to produce detail plan to protect the health of Mother and Unborn child
  • Effectively carries out tasks related to evaluating services when asked
  • Ability to work within set timeframes working to priorities and deadlines
  • The ability to communicate with patients in an empathetic manner regarding their treatment and procedures.
  • Able to use basic Adult and neonatal resuscitation skills
