Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Dietetic Team at Whipps Cross University Hospital as a Band 3 Clinical Dietetic Support Worker.
This key role supports the Dietetic service primarily in a clinical capacity, working face-to-face with patients on the wards, alongside some administrative duties. Strong communication and computer skills are essential, and applicants should have a genuine interest in nutrition and delivering care.
 
Essential Criteria include: 
 
•    Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths / English / Science  
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
•    Experience of working with patients in an acute healthcare setting  
•    Demonstrable interest and enthusiasm for nutrition 
•    Demonstrable ability and eagerness to gain new knowledge and skills 
•    Good computer skills

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths / English / Science
Desirable criteria
  • Food Hygiene Certificate
  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent
  • Evidence of training appropriate to the post such as short course for Dietetic Support workers

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Qualification or equivalent experience and demonstrable skill in the use of IT packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Evidence of organisational abilities in a current or previous role
  • To be able to demonstrate working in fast paced environment where unexpected changes to your daily plan have been necessary
  • Experience of working well within a team
  • Ability to demonstrate proactive approach in the workplace
  • Experience of working with the public, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated interest in working with vulnerable people
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of in house computer systems
  • Administration experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Interest in nutrition and awareness of the role of the dietitian
  • Ability to understand, report and escalate risks
  • Understand legal responsibilities of the service and the associated code of conduct as well as clinical governance
  • Knowledge and understanding of the diverse local population

Other

Essential criteria
  • Complies with legislation, policies and procedures. Understanding of Human Rights, Equality and Diversity policies and procedures. Understanding of Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act.
