Job overview

 Qualified registered Nurse with Emergency Department experienced required to assume the role of ‘Facilitator’ to the Emergency Department  teams/staff providing support for continuing clinical and professional development in the work place.

Main duties of the job

Within a shared governance framework, the post holder will provide direction for the future of nursing through practice development and education, reflecting the strategic changes in the nursing profession. Through a process of work based competencies, the post holder will provide continuing support to all grades of staff in their delivery of nursing care, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and medical colleagues.

Although this position is a 12 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 12 months.

Communication & Other

Essential criteria
  • Recognises and reflects on barriers to effective communication and modifies communication in response.
  • Takes responsibility for own learning.
  • Monitors and supports the development of junior staff.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience at Band 6 or above within Emergency Medicine setting
Desirable criteria
  • Has undertaken Quality Improvement training
  • Evidence of involvement in project management

Qualifications & Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Educated to degree level or working towards completion
  • P.ILS provider
Desirable criteria
  • Completed a Leadership course / development programme
  • PILS/ILS instructor
  • P. ALS provider or instructor
