Whipps Cross University Hospital
Whipps Cross University Hospital part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group is looking to recruit a Full-Time fixed term Consultant to join our Diabetes and Endocrinology team based on the Whipps Cross Hospital site.
The appointee will work alongside 5 established Diabetes and Endocrine consultants at Whipps Cross University Hospital.
Main duties of the job
Specifically, the post holder will support provision of inpatient care for patients with metabolic and general medical problems, and also out-patient care for patients with diabetes or endocrine presentations. There is a weekly radiology/clinical meeting, a weekly journal club, and a monthly governance meeting, which the new post holder will be expected to attend. The metabolic physicians are also part of the general medical rota.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration with a license to practise
- · MRCP or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- · Higher Research Degree
Relevant Experience
Essential criteria
- · Broad experience in diabetes and endocrine clinics and ward work
- · Excellent clinical skills
- ALS certificate
Desirable criteria
- · Experience in conducting clinical trials
Clinical Skills
Essential criteria
- · Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team – clinical and management.
- · Ability to manage staff and resources effectively
Desirable criteria
- · DAFNE training including course observation
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- · Detailed knowledge of Diabetes and Endocrinology and of the specialist skills required for this post
- · Knowledge of multi-disciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patients
- · Understanding of modern medical curricula and commitment to life-long learning
Management and Audit Skills
Essential criteria
- · Interest in Medical Audit
Desirable criteria
- · An understanding of techniques to improve efficiency and productivity of clinical processes
Teaching Skills

- · Ability to teach medical students and junior medical and nursing

- · Good track record of research in a related field
- · Good evidence of active research with evidence of winning grants or publishing peer reviewed articles.

- · Will live within 30 minutes of Whipps Cross Hospital
