Paediatric Audiologist
Band 6
Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.
The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a fresh course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients.
Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.
Barts Health supports the Pregnancy Loss Pledge and commits to supporting their staff through the distress of miscarriage.

The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a busy environment; the applicant will preferably have experience working in a paediatric audiology department. You must be flexible and a team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in using Microsoft office software, IT literate and numerate is essential. Ideally the candidate will be experienced in using Auditbase.
In view of the nature of the service, it is essential you are able to deal calmly with children, young people and families who may at times be feeling anxious or distressed.
The Audiology service is managed by Barts Health and we cover several districts in East London including: Tower Hamlets, City & Hackney, Newham and Waltham Forest. We provide a service at many health centers and hospitals including the Hackney Ark Health Centre, The Royal London Hospital, West Ham Lane Health Center, Loxford Polyclinic, Wood Street Health Center, St Bartholomew's as well as Homerton and Newham university general hospitals.
Main duties of the job
To perform behavioural as well as specialist diagnostic audiological procedures, and provide a comprehensive specialist hearing aid service to children, including determining care plans for individual patients, and involving carers and families as appropriate.
To support the day-to-day management of the joint Tower Hamlets and City and Hackney Paediatric service.
To participate in areas of clinical audit, research and clinical governance for the Audiology service, which may include designing and completing auditswithin own field, participating in data collection for larger projects, and contributing to the development of evidence based protocols.
To plan and prioritise elements of own workload, within the framework of service delivery priorities as defined by the Clinical Lead and Head of Service, and supervise the work of other members of the team as appropriate, including junior audiologists, trainees and students.
