Job overview

Barts Health NHS Trust and Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a Locum Consultant Neurologist (12 Months) with Rehabilitation expertise for a unique joint post. The successful candidate will work as a Rehabilitation Consultant in the RNRU at Homerton University Hospital. The successful candidate will lead the Rapid Access Acute Rehabilitation (RAAR) service at the Royal London Hospital, providing specialist neurorehabilitation for complex patients within a multidisciplinary team.

This role offers the opportunity to work across two dynamic trusts, supporting patients through acute rehabilitation and ongoing neurology care. Both organisations are committed to professional development, research, and delivering compassionate, high-quality services.

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • MB BS/MB ChB or equivalent
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Specialist registration or equivalent achieved or within 3 months of completion
Desirable criteria
  • Teaching qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience in management of in and out-patient general neurology, including acute neurology
  • Experience of carrying out and publishing research or audit
Desirable criteria
  • Subspecialist experience in epilepsy
  • Management experience
  • Experience of working with hard to reach patient populations
  • Experience of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of taking part in service and departmental developments/improvements
