Job overview

You will be  participating in the Band 6 rotational physiotherapy scheme working across the Newham Hospital site which will require working in a range of ward settings and departments including Stroke, Accident and Emergency, Acute Assessment Unit, Medical wards, Amputee/Surgical, Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU), Health Care of the Elderly, Elective Orthopaedics and MSK. 

Main duties of the job

  • You will provide high quality Physiotherapy interventions to a wide variety of patients including the advanced assessment and treatment of patients in ward environments, provision of individual and group education and treatment, rehabilitation, support for flow throughout the hospital and advocacy for the patient and their family as needed.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Member of the Health Care Professionals Council
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant post registration experience as a Physiotherapist
  • Post registration experience in relevant clinical settings: Respiratory, Neurology, Surgery, MSK
  • Documented evidence of CPD
  • Experience of working as part of a multi- disciplinary team
  • Experience of audit/research
  • Experience of sole working as part of an emergency out of hours service
  • To have had relevant NHS or similar experience
Desirable criteria
  • Member of specific interest group
  • Committee membership e.g. Risk Management
  • Advice, training and support to more junior staff, assistants and students

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Detailed and applied knowledge of Risk Management
  • Understand legal responsibilities of the profession and the associated code of ethics
  • Broad knowledge of current best practice in PT in acute physical, community and rehab setting
  • Knowledge of clinical governance and its implication for services
  • Understanding and compliance with Data Protection & Confidentiality
