Trauma and Orthopaedic Coordinator

Band 7

Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.

The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation. Having lifted ourselves out of special measures, we now have the impetus and breathing space to chart a fresh course in which we are continually striving to improve all our services for patients.

Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. That means being a provider of excellent patient safety, known for delivering consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also means being an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together.

Barts Health supports the Pregnancy Loss Pledge and commits to supporting their staff through the distress of miscarriage.

Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking health professional with a passion for trauma and orthopaedics. If you are ready to take the lead in transforming patient care and service delivery across a fast-paced specialty, we would love to hear from you.

We are seeking a highly motivated Trauma and Orthopaedic Coordinator to join our multidisciplinary team. This role is designed for an experienced professional with strong clinical leadership skills, who is ready to shape and coordinate the delivery of high-quality care across the orthopaedic and trauma pathways. Our hospital has its own unique identity in East London, and we serve one of UK’s most diverse populations.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have key working relationships with consultants, nursing teams, allied health professionals, operational colleagues and other key stakeholders across the hospital to ensure patients receive timely, evidence-based care from admission through to discharge and rehabilitation. You will be central to optimising surgical scheduling, improving theatre efficiency, and reducing delays in the patient journey. As a key member of the team, you will also support the Virtual Fracture Clinic, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to clinical research, including managing data submissions.

This role offers a unique opportunity to blend clinical expertise with operational insight and is ideal for someone who thrives in a patient-centred, collaborative, and ever-evolving environment. The Surgery and Cancer Division works closely with Barts Health Education Academy and as a result, we retain strong links for staff development. You’ll be supported in your professional development and encouraged to innovate as we continue to improve outcomes and experiences for our patients.
