Job overview
A newly developed post has been created to join the commissioning team at Barts Health NHS Trust as the Highly Specialist Pharmacist - Sub-Regional Immunoglobulin Assessment Panel (SRIAP) for North East London (NEL). We are seeking an ambitious individual to lead the development of SRIAP, supporting enhanced clinical stewardship of immunoglobulin across the North East London (NEL) region. This will include coordination of immunoglobulin referrals from all three acute Trusts within NEL.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with NHS England (NHSE), the NEL SRIAP panel, and Barts Health NHS Trust to support the development of patient pathways, ensuring timely and appropriate access to immunoglobulin (Ig). The post holder will also work collaboratively with senior clinicians, commissioners, and regional medicines optimisation teams to support safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective use of immunoglobulins across secondary care.
We welcome applications from individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who are able to work effectively across systems. Joining our team will provide the support and opportunities to further develop your capabilities within Barts Health and the wider healthcare system.
Main duties of the job
Key duties include:
• Coordinating the NEL SRIAP, with Barts Health serving as the host Trust.
• Ensuring referrals are managed on a daily basis, from all local NEL acute trusts, including review of these in line with the National Ig Clinical Commissioning Policy as well as the London Emergency List.
• Leading the development of the SRIAP to enhance clinical stewardship of Ig across the North East London region.
• Ensuring the panel operates according to NHS England's policies, including the CCP for Ig and terms of reference for SRIAP.
• Overseeing the approval and review of new and existing Ig patients, record data on the national database, and monitor KPIs to ensure maximal reimbursement of Ig expenditure at Barts Health.
• Maintaining detailed records of panel decisions, ensuring alignment with the National Immunoglobulin Database.
• Collaborating closely with commissioners to establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Supporting the development of patient pathways to ensure timely and appropriate access to Ig.
• Ensuring the minimum dataset is fulfilled to enable patients to be discussed at the SRIAP and ensure all patients for discussion meet these requirements.
• Developing relevant SOPs and pathways to ensure patients are discussed at the SRIAP in a timely fashion, in liaison with specialty clinical teams.
