Job overview

Due to promotion of our current post holder we have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic dietitian with energy and drive, to join our team. The post is suitable for new graduate Dietitian, or Dietitian currently working at band 5 level seeking paediatric experience.

 

The role is in general paediatrics. The general Paediatric caseload is very varied and is based at the Royal London Hospital, you will also spend 1 day /week at Newham University Hospital. You will be trained in paediatric dietetics and will see inpatients and outpatients. You will also have the opportunity to build your experience within other paediatric specialities.

                                                                                                                                          

You must have excellent communication skills and enjoy working within a dynamic multidisciplinary environment. You will join a large friendly team of 31 Paediatric Dietitians across 3 acute sites and into the community. We are also part of a large team of Children’s Therapists.

 

You will be supported to achieve your learning and development needs, including Band 5 competencies. We also have a well-established programme of quality improvement and research, and fully encourage CPD. This is a genuine opportunity to develop your acute paediatric skills.

Main duties of the job

To work together with the paediatric dietetic team to provide an effective dietetic service to paediatric in-patients and outpatients at The Royal London Hospital and Newham University Hospital. To ensure that research and audit is undertaken on a regular basis to ensure practice is evidence based.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics or relevant postgraduate qualification
  • HCPC registered

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Clinical experience in acute and/or community setting
  • Demonstrable experience of working within a multidisciplinary team and understanding team dynamics
  • Documented evidence of commitment to CPD
  • Demonstrable understanding of clinical governance and its relevance to everyday practice
  • Ability to research and interpret literature and apply to own practice to ensure clinical practice is up to date
  • Ability to undertake audit and change practice in accordance to findings
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working as Dietitian, or Dietetic Assistant Practitioner
  • Previous experience in paediatrics
  • Previous experience working within the NHS

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to carry out a dietetic assessment using the ABCDE structure, and devise an appropriate and safe dietetic plan
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills i.e. managing own workload
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviour change / motivational interviewing through dietetic consultations
  • Able to reflect and appraise own performance
  • Computer Literacy i.e. Microsoft word, Powerpoint, Excel
