Job overview

We are looking for friendly, experienced, dynamic and self-motivated Health care assistant to join the multidisciplinary team helping to develop and deliver a high-class infusion service.

Centralised Infusions Unit at Mile End Hospital provides intravenous infusion therapy to patients with a range of long and short term health conditions.

This is a parttime position. The successful applicant will work 30 hours per week across 4 days.

You will need to have excellent communications skills and preferably admin and phlebotomy experience. You will work under the supervision of a registered nurse and deliver safe and compassionate outpatient care.

In return, we will develop your skills, knowledge and experience with formal and on-the-job training

This post is open to individuals who are both experienced Healthcare Support Workers as well as attracting individuals who are new to care. You will receive support to complete the Band 3 competencies and progress into a Band 3 role within 6 months upon successful completion of all required competencies; until then, you will be placed at a Band 2 salary.

 

As part of the recruitment process for this post, candidates will be required to complete an online literacy and numeracy test and only if they pass this, will they be invited to a formal interview.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be an integral part of the nursing team actively taking part in meeting the needs of patients and of the service in accordance with agreed standards under direct supervision of the registered nurse. The post holder will continue to develop essential competencies though training and practice to ensure safety and quality are the priority.

Essential criteria
  • Completion of Care Certificate or equivalent.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills (English and Math’s GCSEs or equivalent.)
  • Evidence of ongoing personal development.
Desirable criteria
  • Level 2 support worker Apprenticeship

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a clinical healthcare setting.
  • Experience of dealing with the public.
