Job overview
We are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a passionate and highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist/Radiographer to lead the Nuclear Medicine Therapy service. In this role, you will work closely with other site leads and the Operational Lead Technologist to ensure the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of services within our Nuclear Medicine department.
The Nuclear Medicine Department is excited to invite applications from an exceptional and dynamic individual to join our team as a leader in our nuclear medicine therapies. We are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and forward-thinking professional with a proven track record of leadership and management excellence.
Main duties of the job
As the post holder, you will oversee and inspire a dedicated and multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Your role will be pivotal in driving the delivery of outstanding, high-quality nuclear medicine services while identifying and implementing opportunities for innovation and growth.
You will possess excellent technical skills in organising and delivering nuclear medicine therapies, and have significant experience working in a large Nuclear Medicine departments. As the therapy lead, you will have outstanding communication, organisational, and management skills, with the ability to motivate and lead colleagues, and create a multi-professional quality driven working environment with patients at the centre of care.
The successful candidate will have the skills and expertise to manage a growing and busy therapy service, which includes PRRT, SIRT and 131 iodine therapies as well as research opportunities.
The successful post holder will provide senior leadership skills and have in-depth knowledge in Nuclear Medicine governance to support Technologists, Operational Lead Technologist and the Head of Nuclear Medicine within the department.
The post holder will have the ability to work effectively with other imaging service, professional leads within Nuclear Medicine, Radiopharmacy and clinical learning facilitators.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc Nuclear Medicine
- DCR, BSc Diagnostic Imaging, Post-grade in Nuclear Medicine or equivalent
- HCPC State Registration and/or RCT Registration
- Evidence of post registration study and Continuous Professional Development
Desirable criteria
- Post registration qualification (Professional or managerial) at MSc/PG dip level, or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience in Nuclear Medicine, PET-CT, cardiac imaging, and therapy.
- Clinical experience in a wide range of imaging modalities
- Teaching and training experience in nuclear medicine imaging.
- Evidence of leadership experience
- Experience of supervising and managing staff and undertaking appraisals with Nuclear Medicine staff.
- Development and implementation of Radiographic protocols and procedures
- Experience and in depth-knowledge in Nuclear Medicine Governance compliance and risk management in all areas of practice.
Desirable criteria
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in leadership roles
- NHS experience
- Handling difficult and challenging situations
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Expert clinical knowledge in one or more specialist imaging modalities.
- Extensive knowledge about NM therapies
- Working knowledge of responsibilities relating to ionising radiation regulations
- Understanding of relevant legislation, national standards, and professional guidelines
- Knowledge of and experience in departmental administration.
Desirable criteria
- Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT standard routines and regulations
