We are looking for an experienced diabetes specialist nurse to join our Inner London Diabetes Service. We cover the London tri-boroughs (Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea and Westminster) and work within a multidisciplinary team consisting of consultants, specialist nurses, dietitians, and admin team. The service works in partnership with general practitioners and other health care professionals, providing tailored support and guidance. Our main office base is at the central location of Lission Grove, and we have clinics running at 9 different sites.

Main duties of the job

  • Relevant post registration training and experience in the management of patients with mainly Type 2 Diabetes
  • Ideally be an Independent Nurse Prescriber or demonstrate a willingness to achieve this qualification
  •  Be a great a team player who is willing to work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver the best care possible for our patients
  •  Have a strong commitment to the delivery of high quality, safe, patient care and be a good role model in reflecting the Trusts core values
  • You should be able to work effectively in an environment with frequent interruptions and within stressful, unpredictable situations including responding to and solving urgent and emergency situations on a daily basis. 
  • Be competent to offer guidance and supervision to members of the clinical team

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • Current registration with the NMC, Showing a registered General Nurse.
  • Relevant post registration training in Diabetes eg: Masters or diploma in diabetes management
  • Independent Nurse Prescriber or willing to undertake
Desirable criteria
  • Mentorship training

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum of at least 3 years’ experience in managing complex diabetes cases
  • Experience in managing a clinical case load
  • Experience in the training of students
  • Experience in organising and implementing training/teaching programmes for healthcare professionals and clients
  • Excellent group education and presentation skills
  • Experience of conducting audits and/or research
  • Experience in contributing to Service Development, including policy and guideline development
  • Experience in supervising others
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team

  • Experience working in Community settings
