Job overview
We are seeking a Specialist in Endodontics to join our supportive and collaborative Endodontic service on a part‑time, fixed‑term basis. This NHS Medical & Dental: Salaried Dentist – C post offers an excellent opportunity to work within a values‑led organisation that is committed to high‑quality patient care, fairness, respect and continuous improvement.
Working closely with the Consultant in Endodontics and the wider multidisciplinary dental team, you will play a key role in delivering Tier 3 endodontic care, contributing to patient assessments, complex clinical treatments and referral triage. The role combines clinical expertise with teamwork and shared learning in a dynamic service environment.
Essential requirements
- Inclusion on the GDC Specialist Register for Endodontics
- Ability to deliver Tier 3 endodontic care in accordance with national commissioning guidance

Main duties of the job
- Undertake Tier 3 (Level 3) endodontic treatments and reviews, in line with agreed care pathways and under the guidance or prescription of the Consultant in Endodontics
- Carry out new patient consultations, providing person‑centred, evidence‑based care
- Triage and assess referrals, accepting patients who meet national Tier 3 endodontic commissioning criteria
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the dental service to deliver safe, effective and timely care
- Contribute to a positive team culture, supporting service development, shared learning and continuous improvement
- Maintain clear, accurate clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards

Essential criteria
- Full registration with the GDC
- Primary dental qualification (BDS or equivalent)
- Relevant postgraduate qualification in Endodontics
- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience and/or training demonstrating competence equivalent to completion of specialist training in Endodontics
- Substantial experience in the clinical management of a range of Tier 3 endodontic case
Desirable criteria
- Experience in community or specialist dental services
Skills
Essential criteria
- Experience in teaching, training and/or clinical supervision
- Participation in audit and quality improvement activities
- Ability to critically appraise scientific literature
- Experience contributing to the management or coordination of staff or clinical teams
- Commitment to maintaining up to date knowledge of dental techniques and materials
