Associate Director of Education and Learning

Job overview
This is a senior management role, and its key purpose is to:
• Lead medical education, learning and development, including apprenticeship, vocational training and lifelong learning, core skills training, digital training across the three Trusts, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ie: “Tri-Trust”).
• Bring together a coherent and comprehensive offer for Learning and Development issues across the Tri-Trust, developing and implementing strategy and policy and ensuring that all staff develop the knowledge, skills and competence to achieve the Trust’s strategic and operational objectives.
Main duties of the job
The responsibilities in section 1 to 6 are shared across the Tri-Trust (Chelsea & Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust).
1. Learning & Development
Lead and coordinate a comprehensive learning offer across all levels of the Tri-Trust.
2. Apprenticeships
Maximise use of the apprenticeship levy to provide diverse development opportunities for staff.
3. Widening Participation
Support initiatives that encourage young people to pursue NHS careers.
4. Core Skills/Mandatory Training
Ensure full compliance in mandatory training across the Tri-Trust through efficient, high-quality delivery.
5. Digital Infrastructure
Design and implement digital systems, including a learning management system, to support learning.
6. Team Leadership & Resources
Lead the learning, apprenticeship, medical education*, and core skills teams to deliver a high-performing, customer-focused service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• Work closely with the Directors of Clinical Studies and Directors of Medical Education across all sites responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, the Chief Nurse, and the Medical Director to ensure safe, effective training and education for all health professionals.
• Manage the medical education and library administration staff across both sites.
• Provide financial management support for education income and expenditure.
• Ensure high-quality support for the onboarding and educational experience of resident and undergraduate doctors, in collaboration with the Directors of Medical Education across the Trusts.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure the design and build of new education facilities at Hillingdon Hospital (as part of the hospital rebuild) and West Middlesex Hospital (as part of the extension to main buildings) are fit for purpose and support future staff development.
