Job overview

This position is to work closely with the Imaging Administration Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the department, maintaining high standards of patient care, and supporting administrative staff. The administrator will work closely with Superintendents, Radiographers, and patients, utilising excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills. They will deputise for the Imaging Manager, where and when required and will carry out appraisals for more junior members of staff.

Main duties of the job

The responsibilities will include training and supervision of junior staff, to ensure that work objectives are being met on a day-to-day basis. They will be regarded as a key member of the imaging team. The role involves managing patient data, booking appointments and managing the diary to support modalities, handling inquiries including transport assistance, and ensuring that the clinical diary (Soliton) and records are up-to-date.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To demonstrate strong leadership skills and to perform management duties to a high standard.

   To undertake all administrative duties efficiently and to a high standard.

       To ensure that patients receive a high standard of care.

       Deputise for the Imaging Team Leader, where and when required.

       Support the delivery of a high quality healthcare service ensuring that all patients receive a high standard of service delivery

       Handle queries from patients/relatives confidentially and sensitively; refer clinical-related queries to appropriate staff in accordance with data protection and information governance policies.

       Oversee the work of more junior staff and ensure work objectives are being met on a day-to-day basis and demonstrate duties to new starters.

       Carrying out appraisals for more junior members of staff.

       Ensure all procedures are followed re data capture for service specific outcomes.

       Adhere to trust-wide standard operating procedures and policies developed for clinical administrative processes and participate in their development.

       Provide support for managing of diary building for patient appointments.

  • Previous experience in an administrative role
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative role within a busy environment

  • Able to work professionally with staff and patients
  • Ability to plan and prioritise work
