Job overview
We have an exciting Senior Clinical Fellow level opportunity for candidates who wish to obtain training and broaden their experience in Neurology and Stroke Medicine in a central London teaching hospital.
You will work as part of a Consultant led team to manage Stroke and Neurology inpatients, ward referrals and outpatient clinics and will gain an excellent grounding in Neurology and Stroke medicine. All of our trainees are encouraged to participate in departmental and Trust initiatives as well as Quality Improvement projects. Additionally there will be opportunity to attend the Regional Neurosciences meetings at Charing Cross Hospital.

This post would be ideally suited to candidates wishing to apply for a National training number in Neurology and the successful candidate would receive mentoring from Dr Redwood, Training Programme Director for Neurology in North West London.
Main duties of the job
The main parts of the post involve the care of Stroke and Neurology inpatients, attending outpatient TIA, Stroke and Neurology clinics, reviewing Stroke and Neurology inpatient consults and performing the regular functions of a Neurology/Stroke Registrar.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will be part of a Consultant led team which (in addition to these posts) includes two Neurology SpRs, two FY2s, two FY1s, a Neurology Specialist Nurse and a Neurology Pharmacist. There will be consultant ward rounds of new patients, with SpR led ward rounds of existing patients. There will be opportunity for interested individuals to carry out supervised outpatient clinics, MDTs and attend a number of sub-specialty Neurology clinics including Neuro-inflammation, Cognitive clinics and Neuro-ID clinics. There may also be opportunity to attend further sub-specialty clinics at the regional Neurosciences Centre at Charing Cross Hospital
There will be opportunity for interested individuals to carry out supervised outpatient clinics, MDTs and attend a number of sub-specialty Neurology clinics including Neuro-inflammation, Cognitive clinics and Neuro-ID clinics. There may also be opportunity to attend further sub-specialty clinics at the regional Neurosciences Centre at Charing Cross Hospital.
The Appointees will be expected to assess and manage patients with the support of the consultant and using appropriate clinical guidelines.
There are multiple multi-disciplinary meetings between doctors, nursing staff, and specialist teams for the care of patients.
The post has no on call commitment, but there may be opportunity to join the local Medical registrar on call rota at Chelsea and Westminster or the regional Stroke and Neurology Registrar on call rota.

Education & Qualifacation
Essential criteria
- Full GMC Registration and License to practice
- MBBS or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Full MRCP (Applicants with written part 2 or PACES outstanding will be considered)
- Advanced Life Support Provider
- Advanced Life Support Instructor
Skills and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Previous experience of working at Registrar level
- General and acute medicine experience
- Previous Neurology or Stroke Medicine experience
- Prior experience of working in the NHS
- Computer skills and IT literacy
- Leadership and teaching experience
- Commitment to multidisciplinary team working
- Commitment to continuing medical education
- Commitment to the goals of the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital
