NHS AfC: Band 7

Job overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Physiotherapist to join our Private Patient team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. This is a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality, personalised care in a prestigious private inpatient setting within a leading NHS Trust.

You will independently manage a varied caseload of private inpatients across clinical areas including care of the elderly, stroke, medical and surgical rehab, and orthopaedics. You’ll work alongside a dedicated PP Occupational Therapist and receive support from the wider NHS therapy team. The role demands autonomy, clinical confidence, and sound decision-making.

We’re looking for a clinician passionate about delivering exceptional patient experiences and committed to service development and innovation. Experience in private healthcare is desirable, and a strong understanding of the standards expected in private care is essential.

You should demonstrate advanced clinical reasoning, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to multidisciplinary collaboration. This role offers the chance to shape and enhance the private therapy service, making a real impact on patient outcomes and service quality.

If you’re ready to bring your expertise to a role that blends clinical excellence with premium care, we’d love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

    • Lead physiotherapy services for adult Private Patients, delivering evidence-based assessments and treatments.

    • Manage daily physiotherapy operations and practice autonomously within professional standards.

    • Work both independently and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

    • Conduct specialised assessments and coordinate with occupational therapy, social services, and medical colleagues to treat complex cases.

    • Develop and implement treatment plans, triaging and discharging patients efficiently.

    • Apply strong time management skills to balance clinical and operational duties.

    • Maintain relationships with community partners and make timely referrals.

    • Collaborate with MDT members to organise patient support at home and facilitate discharge.

    • Contribute to evidence-based projects and monitor practice standards.

    • Supervise and support junior staff and students.

    • Participate in research and audits to enhance therapy services.

    • Educate colleagues on therapy practices and raise the service profile.

    • Support strategic planning and service development.

    • Promote CPD and team development.

Working for our organisation

Our nearly 7,500 staff care for a diverse population of 1.5m, providing full clinical services including maternity, A&E and children’s services, plus specialist HIV and sexual health care. The CQC rates us Good in safety, effectiveness, care and responsiveness, and Outstanding in leadership and resource use.

We continually invest in our facilities, including a £30m expansion of critical care at Chelsea and an £80m Ambulatory Diagnostic Centre at West Mid.

We are delivering sustainable healthcare through our Green Plan. In line with Greener NHS ambitions, we aim for net zero carbon emissions by 2045. Achieving this requires collective effort. We encourage staff to reduce their impact on carbon, waste and pollution wherever possible. Every action counts to create a healthier, more sustainable future.

We are committed to equal opportunities and believe diversity drives innovation and excellence. We welcome applications from the global majority, veterans and underrepresented communities, valuing the perspectives they bring.

Some roles may require weekend shifts at multiple sites.
