Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity to join our IT Team as a Solutions Architect, becoming the source of technology and data technical expertise. Working collaboratively with all IT Teams, you will transform business requirements and challenges into workable technical solutions
As the Solutions Architect, you will be key to the strategic change programme, designing highly complex technical solutions both for the Trust and the wider NWL Acute Provider Collaborative. The post holder will identify current business processes, facilitate discussions, advise stakeholders, support operational colleagues and document new solutions end to end in support of Chelsea and Westminster NHS delivering its services.
The post is based at Harbour Yard in Chelsea, next to the River Thames, working from a modern and spacious office complex with an on-site café and parking, with excellent transport links.
Main duties of the job
With a very strong technical background across hyper converged technologies, cloud platforms, networking and Microsoft based software technologies, you will provide technical subject matter and solution expertise for teams across IT.
Producing architectural roadmaps, high-level designs, and low-level designs, you will bring working groups together which will consist of both technical and non-technical parties to transform business requirements and challenges into workable technical solutions.
The Solution Architect will report to the Technical Architect and help transition from visionary concepts to high-level and low-level designs that will be delivered and developed and contribute to the strategic Technology and Product roadmaps for Chelsea and Westminster NHS.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- Providing technical subject matter and solution expertise for teams across IT in wide range of technologies.
- Collaborate to provide solution expertise and direction to Trust services, programmes and projects.
- Producing architectural roadmaps, high-level designs, and low-level designs
- Collaborating IT leads and subject matter experts to create clear and concise documentation detailing complex technical solutions. With the ability to translate these complex technical solutions back into easy to understand language depending on the audience.
- Working closely with the Technical Architect to feed into and influence strategic planning and direction of the technical capabilities at the Trust using the knowledge of business challenges.
- Understanding and maintaining the architectural visions and working closely with Technical Architect to help transition from visionary concepts to high-level and low-level designs that will be delivered/developed.
- The identification of new and emerging hardware, software and communication technologies and products, services, methods and techniques.
- Work with the Cyber, Datacentre, Network and Digital Operations teams to assess the suitability of new/ emerging technologies
- Working with the IT teams to present / pilot new / emerging technologies to gain support for their adoption and enable transition to BAU.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent relevant experience in a subject relative role
Desirable criteria
- Accredited technical skills or equivalent relevant experience with Dell hyper converged compute environment
- Accredited technical skills or equivalent relevant experience with Microsoft Windows server operating systems
- Accredited technical skills or equivalent relevant experience with Microsoft authentication architecture
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of leading a team across multiple work streams, managing conflicting priorities
- An excellent understanding of Cyber Security concepts and techniques
- Experience working in a project environment (target driven)
- Experience of delivering detailed design, documentation and successful implementation of new or changed operational processes through options appraisal techniques.
- Experience in hybrid cloud technologies and migration of on prem to Public Cloud services
