Here at ELFT we're offering a fantastic opportunity for growth and development as an Apprentice Security Receptionist/Nursing Assistant completing Professional Security Operative Level 2 apprenticeship in the Forensic Directorate medium and/or low secure hospital sites.
The post holder will work as a member of the security team based within the reception and/or liaison areas of the Forensic Directorate medium and/or low secure hospital sites.
The post holder will support safety and security by competent operation of various and complex egress and access systems which contribute to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, contractors and staff in accordance with Trust/Directorate policies and procedures.
The post holder will be based mainly at Wolfson House (Posnanski Court, 311-315 Green Lanes, Finsbury Park, London N4 2ES) but will also occasionally work at John Howard Cente (12 Kenworthy Rd, London E9 5TD).

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based within the reception control room, monitoring security systems (CCTV, emergency alarms, fire alarms), supporting all access and egress through secure air-locks, acting as an administrator, and assisting staff with the Traka System (electronic key system).
They will deal with all visitors, contractors, telephone calls in a polite, efficient and professional manner in accordance with Trust policy and local procedure.

Qualifications and skills
Essential criteria
- Good standard of Written and Spoken English
- Good written and Verbal communication skills
Desirable criteria
- English & Maths GCSE or equivalent functional skills
- Experience of dealing with challenging situations
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks and follow instructions
- Sensitivity and the ability to maintain composure in emotive and challenging circumstances
- Ability to use own initiative when required
- Motivated and committed to work in mental health
Desirable criteria
- Ability to recognise inappropriate behaviour and set/maintain boundaries with the agreement of the clinical team
- Able to problem solve and seek guidance where necessary.
