Band 7

ELFT has long been recognised as a centre of excellence for mental and health care, innovation and improvement. So it is a very exciting time for you to come and work for us. Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.

Job overview

We are excited to advertise a senior post in ELFT forensic directorate’s Drug and Alcohol Service. We are looking for an enthusiastic psychological therapist who has experience of working with people with substance use problems and/or experience of working with complex mental health presentations in a community, inpatient, or forensic setting. We are especially keen to hear from applicants who are representative of the diverse population we serve.

The post holder will work across two community forensic services, one specialising in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, and the other supporting people leaving mainstream inpatient forensic services. These community teams cover seven East London localities. The post holder will offer specialist assessment and psychosocial intervention to forensic service users with historical or current problems with substance use who are either in the community or approaching discharge from our inpatient services. The post holder will also provide consultation and training to other professionals across the service, and be responsible for the management and clinical oversight of two Drug and Alcohol Service team members working across the community teams.

The post holder will be embedded within the forensic directorate’s Drug and Alcohol Service, a multidisciplinary, specialist team, with access to rich supervision and CPD opportunities.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist assessment and psychosocial interventions to forensic service users with historical or current problems with substance use who are either in the community or approaching discharge from our inpatient services

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of effective governance frameworks, and to the audit and evaluation of services
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training to a wide range of staff across the forensic directorate
