Job overview

We have a for vacancy for a Full Time Qualified Assistant Technical Officer to join the Mile End Pharmacy Dispensary team. The post holder will be an integral part of the team, participating in the full range of dispensing activities. They will also provide top up duties to ensure stock is maintained in the most appropriate way.

You should have great communication and interpersonal skills; be motivated, flexible and adaptable; and be able to work in an ever changing environment.

You will be expected to develop good working relationships with other staff within the pharmacy and the hospital.

All applicants must have completed the pharmacy service assistant apprenticeship or equivalent pharmacy services modules at level 2, covering law & ethics, assembly, supply, and handling stock.

•    To undertake general dispensary and distribution activities including ward based top ups
•    To assist the technical and professional staff in the day-to-day running of the Department

Education/ Qualification/ Training

Essential criteria
  • Level 2 Apprenticeship/NVQ/BTEC or equivalent pharmacy services modules
  • GCSE passes at grade C or above in English and Maths or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous employment in pharmacy
Desirable criteria
  • Work experience in a hospital pharmacy
  • Mental Health Experience
  • Experience of directing & instructing staff
  • Experience of dealing with the public
  • Experience of problem solving
  • Experience of ordering and invoicing

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work carefully with attention to detail
  • Ability to work unsupervised in an organised manner
  • Ability to plan work & meet targets
