Occupational Therapist - Extended Primary Care Team

We are inviting experienced Occupational Therapists to apply for a rewarding role working in an Extended Primary Care Team in Newham in ELFT.  This role represents an exciting opportunity to be part of a therapy team in Newham.

As a registered Occupational Therapist, you will be expected to provide patient-centred occupational therapy to a range of community patients, with a focus on rehabilitation following hospital admission and/or illness, working closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists and nurses.

The role requires clear communication and an ability to play a lead role in the Occupational Therapy team, supervising and managing junior colleagues, including Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Support Workers and students. You will also be expected to work jointly with the OT Clinical Lead and other B7 therapists to ensure the therapy team is efficient and effective, meeting patients' needs and introducing Quality Improvement initiatives where possible.

By joining us, you will be linked with the wider Allied Healthcare Professionals network.  Professional supervision will be provided and you will have access to in-service training and profession specific development.

  • Diploma or degree in Occupational therapy
  • HCPC registration
  • Evidence of post registration continued professional development, qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

Experience

  • At least three years post qualification in clinical mental health setting: and or demonstrable experience highly related to the clinical field
  • Previous experience of functioning as a team member
  • Previous experience of Management and Clinical Supervision, including annual appraisal
  • Previous experience of service development, quality improvement and of bringing innovation and new ideas to practice

Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of applied social, health and medical sciences including psychology, anatomy, physiology and sociology
  • Knowledge of how mental health difficulties impact upon occupational functioning and performance.
  • Working knowledge of Clinical Governance and its application in novel settings
  • Specialist clinical skills to carry out OT interventions therapeutic and activity based interventions; remedial training and cognitive behavioural interventions and psychosocial and psycho -educational interventions.
  • Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of OT interventions including knowledge of outcome measures
