NCEL Provider Collaborative are offering a fantastic Apprenticeship opportunity to become a Level Three Training Officer with an NHS organisation.

We are seeking applicants with lived experience of Children and Young People’ mental health services or inpatient care, who are passionate about making a positive change through teaching others.

The role will involve working with clinical staff and senior leaders, to create training packages and learning materials to educate frontline staff to provide improved health care for young people and families.

You will be working 30 hours per week, where your time will be shared across East London NHS foundation Trust, Compass Well-being, and with Apprenticeship Provider, Babington. 

On completion, you will have the skills and experience to start your career as a qualified training officer, where you can apply for roles within the NHS and other organisations in Education, Learning and Development, Corporate Training and Teaching.

Eligibility requirements

  • Potential apprentices must be 16 years old or above (there is no upper age limit).
  • You must not have prior learning in Level 3 Learning & Development.
  • You must have been living in the UK for the last 3 years.
  • If you are on a Visa, it must cover the length of the apprenticeship contract.
  • You must be able to access public funds.
  • You must be able to work 30 hours a week.

Main duties of the job

  • The Learning and Development (L&D) apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals with lived experience of CYP Mental Health Services and a passion for learning and development. This role allows you to deepen your understanding of L&D while leveraging your lived experience to enhance our learning and development frameworks.

    Working collaboratively with NCEL Provider Collaborative and Compass Wellbeing, you will have the chance to harness the power of learning through mentorship, collaboration, and key projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist the Provider Collaborative team in identifying learning needs
    • Aid in the design and delivery of training programs
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Key Duties

1         Assist in the design and development of training materials and programmes

2         Coordinate and schedule training sessions, workshops, and meetings

3         Update and maintain L&D systems and databases

4         IT proficient: Excel, PowerPoint, data management

5         Data entry and analysis to support L&D activities

6         Organise and manage training resources, including booking venues and ordering materials

7         Communication via emails, telephones, and face-to-face interactions

8         Maintain confidentiality, and adhere to organisational policies and procedures with consideration for safeguarding

9         Support the evaluation of training programs through feedback collection and analysis

10      Undertake ad hoc duties when required

11      Support the NCEL Provider Collaborative team by compiling and distributing training materials and reports.

12      Assist in organising, facilitating, and participating in training events, workshops, and focus groups.

13      Prioritise and complete multiple tasks and projects in a deadline-driven environment.

14      Ensure effective communication on specific L&D project developments with the Project Lead, Head of Delivery and Performance, and the wider team.

15      Maintain accurate and open communication with a range of organisations and individuals, researching and drafting correspondence, marketing, and research materials.

16      Compose well-written emails, create meeting invitations, and write short documents.

17      Develop and maintain contact sheets and training asset inventories (e.g., iPads, headsets, USBs).

18      Contribute to team meetings effectively.

19      Travel to locations within London and occasionally outside London as required by L&D projects.

20      Undertake ad hoc duties as required.

Skills and Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrate working towards Functional Skills Level 2 through an initial assessment in subjects where the candidate may not yet hold the qualification
  • Project management methodology and documentation
Desirable criteria
  • Hold Maths and English GCSE or equivalent GCSE level C/4+ in at least one subject

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Computer literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office package
  • Lived experience as a service user Of Children and Young Peoples Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
  • Experience in taking minutes, organising meetings and disseminating information to stakeholder
Desirable criteria
  • Practical experience of working in a busy office environment
