Job overview
The post holder will be a senior member of staff working in a leadership role providing supporting advice to staff working within the Psychiatry Liaison Team and Crisis Assessment Team.
Main duties of the job
Maintain clinical direction and leadership, coordinating a team of clinical staff for the
continuous and consistent provision of high-quality mental health care to people with mental
health crisis in Psychiatry Liaison and the Crisis Pathway.
Carry continuing responsibility for the assessment of care needs, the development,
implementation and evaluation of care programs.
Demonstrate within the team, clinical leadership and knowledge of a range of therapeutic
interventions available to reduce distress for individuals experiencing an acute mental health
crisis.
Lead the team in a way that supports the development of a culture of continuous
improvement and learning.
Ensure the voice of service users and carers are captured and listened to.
Ensuring there is a framework for the ongoing clinical supervision and caseload management
within the team, and for monitoring standards of clinical practice.
Facilitate regular time and space for team reflection.

Person specification
Education and Training
Essential criteria
- Registered Mental Health Nurse, Current Professional Registration
- Mentorship Preparation or equivalent
- CBT and/or brief intervention /solution focused therapy and /or motivational interviewing or willingness to undertake
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of continual professional development
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial post qualification experience in the field of mental health crisis
- Previous experience at working autonomously
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary mental health team at a senior level – B6 and above
- Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment and of ensuring that nursing practice is culturally sensitive
- Extensive and demonstrable experience of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to manage and lead members of the multi- disciplinary team to ensure staff are supported and developed in a rapidly changing environment
- Ability to provide structured and focused supervision and consultation
- Ability to manage the performance of staff supervised to ensure that local and national standards are met and where necessary address any deficiencies
- Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively both orally and in writing to service users, colleagues, statutory and voluntary agencies in an exceptional manner about a range of complex issues
